William Stanton Jones
William Stanton Jones (29 July 1905 – 13 August 1951〔"Obituary Bishop W. Stanton Jones".'' The Times'', 14 August 1951; pg. 8; Issue 52079; col E〕) was an Anglican bishop.〔(Feegans )〕
Stanton-Jones was educated at Durham University.〔“Who was Who” 1897–2007 London, A & C Black, 2007 ISBN 978-0-19-954087-7〕 Ordained in 1892〔''Ordinations. Liverpool'' The Times, 14 June 1892; pg. 3; Issue 33664; col A〕 he began his ordained ministry as a curate at Widnes,〔"The Clergy List, Clerical Guide and Ecclesiastical Directory" London, John Phillips, 1900〕 after which he was vicar of St Polycarp’s Liverpool.〔(Old Liverpool Churches )〕 He was then vicar of St Mary’s with St Lawrence's Kirkdale, Liverpool and rural dean of Middleton. From 1921 to 1928 he was Archdeacon of Bradford〔(London Gazette )〕 when he was ordained to the episcopate as Bishop of Sodor and Man,〔''Ecclesiastical News. Bishop Of Sodor And Man Consecrated.'' The Times Tuesday, 12 Jun 1928; pg. 19; Issue 44917; col D〕 a position he held for 14 years.
